With a steady increase in the inclination towards entrepreneurship there are more designers and brands in the market than ever before. The New York Fashion Week calendar for instance has 324 designers listed on it, more than double the number from 2003 when it was 154. Big brands like J.Crew, Gap, Ann Taylor etc have all seen a drop in sales. Others like Band of outsiders has put a pause on operations and Honor has changed directions by wrapping up its ready to wear segment and concentrating on custom orders.
